For the Kids
Saturday, The Walker Art Museum is hosting their regular Free First Saturdays on March 5th, complete with special activities just for kids. The special event this month is the Kid’s Film Festival. Featuring the film, “Boy and the World”, this should be a wonderful experience! Free, seating for films is limited.
Rock the Cradle is the kiddo version of The Current’s ever popular Rock the Garden concerts. This Sunday, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Children’s Theater company will be devoted solely to a kids disco, live music, story time and a variety of activities—all for kids! Sunday March 6, 11am-5pm. Free! Recommended for children 2-8 and their parents.
For the Film Lover
In honor of the 100th Birthday of the National Park Service, the Science Museum of Minnesota is celebrating by featuring the Omnitheater film, National Parks Adventure! Activities will take place from 11am-2pm, with showtimes thorughout the day. Plus, you can check out the Omnifest winning film, Jerusalem. See ticket options and prices here.
The Z-Fest Film Festival is a Minnesota film festival where several teams of local filmmakers set out to complete and compete for best 7-minute film. The second round of screenings is on Thursday, March 10th, with a “Best of Fest” screening on the 17th. Mall of America Theaters, March 10th and 17th. See here for ticket/screening details.
For the Fairy Tale Aficionado (or your relatives coming from out of town!)
Twin Cities Ballet of Minnesota is presenting Cinderella 1944: A Love Story, a new take on a classic. Cowles Center, March 4-5 7:30pm, March 6th 3pm. Tickets $25-$35
The Chanhassen Dinner Theaters are presenting their newest musical, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Previews start today, and the performances will run through September. Click for more information on tickets and seating
For the Diehard Fan
Gilmore Girl’s fan? Won’t want to miss this! Superfans Kevin T. Porter and Demi Adejuyigbe are in town on Saturday with their podcast, Gilmore Guys LIVE: A Starts Hollow Town Meeting, where they (seriously) discuss everything GG. Woman’s Club of Minneapolis, March 5th, 7pm, doors at 6pm, $20.
Also, Ben Folds is in town, performing with the Minnesota Orchestra! It’s sold out, but if you feel lucky, you can try to get a cancellation resale seat.

The Mill City Winter Farmer’s Market is at the Arboretum on Saturday! They are offering special 2-for-1 vouchers to the Arboretum, so after you’ve picked out your veggies and goods for the day, take a stroll through the grounds with a friend! 10am-1pm, MN Landscape Arboretum in Chaska.
For the Sports Fiend
This Saturday, the Minnesota RollerGirls have their home season championship bout. Pro tip: try to get a trackside seat if you can! Roy Wilkins Auditorium, March 5th, 7:30pm, Doors 6:30pm. $12.50-$17.50
