Trips “up north” are beloved for a Minnesotan! For anyone who loves a regular weekend getaway, the exhibits and seminars at the Minneapolis Lake Home and Cabin Show should not disappoint. From real estate options to gear to custom furniture ideas, this show has it all. Feb 19-21, Minneapolis Convention Center. $12 adults, $5 Youth 5-15.
If you are in the mood for a road trip to Wisconsin, The American Birkebeiner is the largest, and one of the longest cross country ski races in North America. Seriously! If you aren’t skiing in the Birkie, chances are you probably have a friend or co-worker who is. There are several races, but the longest events are from Cable to Hayward, WI. Feb 18-21. Rather watch than play? Luckily The Timberwolves and The Wild are in town. Heck, make a weekend of it! It’s even Ricky Rubio Bobblehead night on Saturday. T-Wolves vs Knicks on Feb 20 and Celtics on 22nd at 7pm. The Wild vs Blackhawks on Feb 21st at 2:30pm.

If your kids are dinosaur obsessed, Dinosaurs! A Family Adventure is the event for your family! Kids walk through the exhibit as junior paleontologists, discovering lifelike large animatronic dinosaurs. Plus crafts, bounce houses, should be a blast! Ruby! The Story of Ruby Bridges might be just the ticket if you have youngsters. This original play just made it’s premier, and is so appropriate for Black History Month! The SteppingStone Theater for Youth Development, Feb 5-28, $16 adults/$12 students & seniors.
Shen Yun is the celebration of Chinese culture with classical Chinese dance and music. Telling the story of a lost civilization, this performance should be enchanting and awe inspiring. Orpheum Theater, Feb 19-21st, tickets $64-154.
