Summer is in full swing with Aquatennial, festivals of all kinds, book readings and yet another music fest. So much to do, how will you choose? I’m sure you’ll think of something, but just in case, here is a list of events we have our eye on this week!
Aquatennial starts on Wednesday! It’s the official civic celebration of the City of Minneapolis and as such, this is one of the biggest events in town! Main events include the CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade on Wednesday, Twin Cities River Rats Water Ski Show on Thursday, a dance party on Friday, and a huge fireworks display over the river on Saturday, which is actually considered one of the top five fireworks displays in the nation. Hey-o! Free. See events here!
Mamma Mia! The annual Festa Italiana is at Harriet Island this week! Embrace your love for everything Italian, celebrating with Italian wine tasting, music, arts, games, Italian cars and motorcycles, a bambini area (bring the kids!) and of course, delicious Italian food! Harriet Island, July 17th-18th.
On Sunday, check out “Sister Cities Day” on Nicollet Island! This event is a free ice cream social with exhibits and entertainment, honoring our relationship between Minneapolis and our 12 international sister cities, including Bosaso, Somalia, the newest sister city. Sunday July 19th, Nicollet Island Pavillion
We are having a beautiful summer, so of course music festivals are going strong every weekend here in MN. The Lakefront Music Fest is this coming weekend in Prior Lake. One night is country with Dwight Yoakam headlining, with rock the other night and Daughtry as the headliner. Should be a great weekend for outdoor concerts! Lakefront Park, Prior Lake. July 17-18. $30/night, 13 and under free!
There are still some tickets left for the Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean concerts this weekend at Target Field! Sounds awesome. Target Field, home of the Twins! July 18th-19th
Did all of you Parks and Rec fans get tickets to see Nick Offerman for his book reading? This event should be amazing! Saturday July 25th, Uptown Church. Tickets are sold out.
Have you heard about the new Woody Harrelson film “Wilson” currently being shot in Minnesota? Sounds like cast and crew are loving it here! Can’t say we are surprised. 🙂
