Happy 4th of July! Time to celebrate our nation’s independence with family BBQs, music, and of course, fireworks! With big events happening all around the metro, we hope you find a great spot to view the shows. Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
In Minneapolis, it’s the annual Red, White, and Boom! The celebrations start with a half marathon run in the morning, continued with family activities and live music in the evening, and ending with fireworks over the Mississippi River! Whether you are a resident or visiting from out of town, this is a fun celebration to be a part of. Check out the views from the Stone Arch Bridge, Gold Medal Park, Father Hennepin Bluffs, or Mill City Museum if you can reserve a spot. Marathon is on Historic Main Street, activities at Father Hennepin Bandshell and Mill Ruins Park, with fireworks over the Mississippi.
In St. Paul, the day starts with the 34th annual Watermelon Ride–a family bike ride from 15-52 miles. Check in at 7:30-9am at Incarnation Lutheran Church. The day culminates at CHS field for the fireworks display following the Saints Game. If you don’t have a ticket, don’t despair. Great views can be found at Mounds Regional Park or Lower Landing Park. Should be a blast!
Other events near the Twin Cities include Apple Valley Freedom Days, an Old-Fashioned 4th of July Celebration in St. Peter, an Independence Celebration at Fort Snelling during the day, Lake Minnetonka 4th of July Celebration, Manitou Days in White Bear Lake, Chanhassen’s 4th of July Celebration with a classic car show and parade, and many more celebrations and fireworks displays across the state.
