The neighborhood of Battle Creek-Highwood is located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The neighborhood is bordered by Minnehaha Avenue to the north, McKnight Road to the east, Red Rock road to the south, the Mississippi River, Warner Road, and Birmingham Street to the west. The southern portion of Battle Creek-Highwood is made up of natural areas, parks, lakes, and reserves, while the northern section of the neighborhood is mostly residential with a shopping center and retail areas off of I-94.

There are restaurants and other places of business off of I-94, with Sun Ray Shopping Center providing grocery stores, gym, dollar stores, and a bowling alley next door. More restaurants and shops can be found off of Suburban Avenue south of I-94.
Battle Creek Regional Park runs through the center of the neighborhood, offering biking and hiking trails along the creek, playing fields and sporting courts, skating and hockey rinks, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, and an indoor recreation center with gymnasiums, rentable meeting rooms, a warming room, craft room, fitness center and kitchen. Every year the Minnesota Orienteering Club puts on a special orienteering event each year at Battle Creek Park, the MNOC Summer Sprint Series. Just southeast of Battle Creek is the Highwood Hills Park and Highwood Preserve, which includes a soccer field, basketball courts, playground and picnicking areas. In the southern section of the neighborhood lies Pig’s Eye Lake and Pig’s Eye Island Rookery, one of the largest heron rookeries in the state. While Pig’s Eye Lake is non-navigable, the rookery is often open as a good spot for bird watching, hiking, and snowshoeing.
