Windom is located in the Southwest area of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The neighborhood is bordered by Diamond Lake Road to the north, I-35W to the east, Highway 62 to the south, and Highway 121 to the west, and shares a border with Richfield, Minnesota on the south. Windom is located near the Chain of Lakes and Diamond Lake, and is a short drive from Downtown Minneapolis, the Mall of America, and the Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport.

In addition, Windom residents can shop at a variety of local businesses, including Bachman’s Floral and Garden, and Northern Brewer which is a home brewing store. There are restaurants up Lyndale and Nicollet Avenues, and Windom is also in close proximity to the business district at 50th and France between Edina and Minneapolis, as well as larger shopping centers in Richfield, and the Mall of America in Bloomington.

The Windom neighborhood is located within the Minneapolis Public School District. The main schools serving the neighborhood include Kenny Community (K-5), Susan B. Anthony Middle School (6-8), and Southwest High School (9-12). There are two schools located within the Windom Neighborhood: Windom Spanish Dual Immersion School (Pre-K-5), which is a public magnet school; and Annunciation Catholic School (Pre-K-8), a private school. Additionally, residents of Windom have the option to choose between a variety of nearby public charter, magnet, and private schools.
