We are back again with another city of the week! This time our city pick is Stillwater, which is located 20 miles East of Saint Paul, next to the beautiful St. Croix River. Stillwater is considered the “Birthplace of Minnesota”, and is known for it’s traditional Main Street area on the banks of the St. Croix, which features a variety of antique stores, specialty shops, and restaurants. Stillwater is a great spot to live or to vacation, residents of the Twin Cities metro area can take an easy day trip to Stillwater, or tourists can spend the night in an Inn or in one of the several bed and breakfasts located in historic Stillwater homes. Due to the proximity of the river, residents and visitors alike can take advantage of a variety of water sports and outdoor activities throughout the year.
While Stillwater is often a friendly destination for visitors, residents of Stillwater can find a deeper sense of community, through various activities going on throughout the year including holiday festivals. From Trick-Or-Treating on Main Street, to a 4th of July fireworks, to a Victorian Christmas at the Courthouse, Stillwater knows how to make any occasion into a community celebration. The annual Stillwater Harvest Fest takes place in October, complete with a chili cook-off and a Giant Pumpkin weigh-off. Plus, Stillwater residents are looking forward to “Hometown for the Holidays“, and of the winter festivities that will be here before we know it! Check out the various year-round events here!
