This week we are highlighting the city of Maplewood! Maplewood is located to the east and north of St. Paul, just 9 miles from downtown. Maplewood is the home of the main campus of 3M, as well as Maplewood Mall and St. John’s Hospital. Residents of Maplewood enjoy the city’s parks, trails, and lakes, an award-winning library, as well as the convenience of living close to the city.
Citizens in Maplewood can take advantage of the community programs organized by the Parks and Recreation department, including youth and adults sports leagues, classes, and community theater, and events such as dances and bowling tournaments, many of which take place at the Maplewood Community Center and the Maplewood Performing Arts Theater. The Maplewood Mall features not only shopping, but also a monthly craft show and sale, among other attractions. Popular community events in Maplewood include the annual Ramsey County Fair on July 15-19, featuring a variety of shows, 4H events, musical groups, carnival rides and fair food. The annual White Bear Avenue Parade is on July 15th, featuring businesses, community organizations, marching bands and more, with the parade route starting in St. Paul and ending at the Adrich Arena in Maplewood.
