Today we are highlighting the city of Forest Lake here on the blog! Forest Lake is located 30 miles north of the Twin Cities. The main attraction of Forest Lak, is the 35 mile lake of the same name. Residents enjoy the proximity to lake activities such as boating, fishing, ice angling, and more. Other outdoor activities in this small town include golf courses, several public parks and green spaces with various recreational opportunities such as ball fields, playgrounds, skating rinks, sport courts, and picnicking areas. Lakeside Park is next to Forest Lake and also has a beach, playground, gazebo, boat dock and public access boat ramps along with a beach house including restrooms and changing areas. During the summer, Forest Lake has a concert series, “Arts in the Park” which features various local bands, music festivals, craft fairs, and farmer’s market.
Main events in Forest Lake include Lake Fest and the annual multi-day 4th of July Celebration. Lake Fest was held this year on May 29th-June 5th, and included arts in the park, a 5K race, children’s activities, the Elementary Schools’ “Build-a-Boat Challenge”, performances, a car show, and waterski show. Throughout this week, city events and award ceremonies were held, culminating with the Forest Lake High School Graduation and decades reunion for Forest Lake alumni. Forest Lake’s 4th of July Celebration, begins with a “Salute to the Troops”, on June 27th, and four consecutive nights of a carnival, bingo, food and music from July 2nd-5th, as well as a grand parade and fireworks display on July 4th.
