Today we are looking at Eden Prairie, one of the southwest suburbs. Eden Prairie is located 16 miles from downtown Minneapolis, and 25 miles from downtown St. Paul. Residents love Eden Prairie as there is plenty to do and see, as well as a variety of community facilities and organizations that make Eden Prairie a great place to live and get to know neighbors. There are almost 10,000 acres of land in the city dedicated just to parks and green spaces, lakes and beaches. Residents can partake in year-round outdoor activities by taking advantage of public skating rinks, swimming beaches, and boat docks along with sporting fields, playgrounds, and trails.
Eden Prairie also boasts a state-of-the-art community center with a variety of recreational activities for all ages, and an Aquatics Center with an upgrade that was completed in July of 2015 with new 8-lane pools, spectator seating and new locker and training rooms. Another upgrade that will be completed in early spring of 2016, with a zero-depth leisure pool, water slide, hot tub and more.
In addition to athletics, Eden Prairie residents can take part in other community activities such as community theater or community band. Community gardens are popular in Eden Prairie, and several plots are available for residents to rent each year. One fantastic event in Eden Prairie is Ice Castles MN, a brilliant walk-through art display with winter events which will open in late January and run through March.
